Thakaperte is a community on Hamilton Downs and the traditional home of the McCormack family who have lived here, on the Northern side of the MacDonnell Ranges, since the beginning of time. The landscape is stunning and the country rich in cultural significance with important dreamings located here.

To get there it’s an easy drive from Alice Springs, heading North and then west along the Tanami Track. The road is sealed the whole way and it takes less than 40 minutes from the centre of town. Once through the gate its another 3km to the campsite along well graded track.
